Dear Ms. Dubey,
At a time, when the world is witnessing so much of violence, tensions,
divisions and unhappiness, to stage a Musical Opera on the Life of Gautam
Buddha, who gave the clarion call of non-violence more than 2600 years
ago from now, must have been an extremely daunting task. Apparently,
you must have been apprehensive about criticism from detractors and
concerns about public response.
Having attended this musical opera on Sunday, June 2, 2002 at the Herman
Hall Auditorium, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, I must compliment
you and your colleagues for taking up this challenge and staging this
musical opera. It is very thought-provoking and executed in the most
professional manner with telling effect. The innovative blending of
different stands of music, imaginative use of choreography and dance
forms, time tested nuggets of views, opinions and teachings of Lord
Buddha and the convincing portrayal by the main protagonists have made
it a memorable event.
The references to the divisions of the Indian society in Buddha's time
in the 6th century BC, are still relevant in today's India to a great
extent. The urge of the humanbeings to free themselves from worldly
desires, pleasures, attachments and their longing for nirvana reflect
the age old thirst of millions of truth seekers in India and abroad.
While the theme, the characters and the references to events have an
Indian context, this musical opera has an universal appeal transcending
national boundaries and language barriers.
In my view, by staging the musical opera on the life of Gautam Buddha,
you and your team are doing a great service; you are rekindling interest
in Buddha's philosophy. May be, his teachings offer alternative options
for achieving peace and harmony in today's turbulent and strifeful world.
I wish you and your team all success on your tour in the US.

To
whomesoever it may concern:
This
is to congratulate Kids World on their production "The Life of Gautama
Buddah". It was professionally produced and very well conceived. Plays
of this nature should be encouraged, as so little happens that reflects
the teachings and messages which concerns universal harmony. It was
seen by me on both occasions in January and August 2000 and I was most
impressed by the effort and work gone into it. The tableaux, the music
and the simplicity spoke to the common man. My comments and suggestions
have been given personally to the Directors.
I wish them all further success.
